Position Summary:

This position serves as the lead support for Enrollment Management technology and analytics projects especially as related to student services and engagement for Enrollment Management. The position provides technical support within Enrollment Management especially as related to the use of best available technology and the development and analysis of data and trends in support of enrollment initiatives. He/she will work closely with the Vice Dean of EM, Registrar and Director of Student Retention as well as fellow members of the division’s Information Management Group. In addition, this position provides support to all colleges on campus as related to academic records tools and student information, especially as related to student success.

This role also serves as a primary liaison between the EM division and University Technology (UNIT) in matters relating to the maintenance and enhancement of the primary ERP system (currently Banner) and systems that interface with Banner. This position evaluates and participates in systems selection and enhancements that are determined to be beneficial to students and other customers of Enrollment Management. This position demands a detailed level of understanding of the mission of Enrollment Management and the capabilities of the software required to support the division. This role will be key in design technology testing plans for the division and providing training of same.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide analytic reporting and analysis for Enrollment Management leadership. The focus of this work will be on data assessment that will provide the basis for divisional goals. This work will also include collaboration with the Director of Business Intelligence, OPIR and others on statistical analyses related to trends and projections that will support data driven decisions.
  • Implement and integrate new ERP (Banner) functionality across campus as that new functionality is released in Banner upgrades. In conjunction with UNIT and members of the EM IMG group, develop logic and test new Banner functionality that is requested and maintained by Enrollment Management or is written by UNIT using EM logic.
  • Manage all updates and new releases of the Banner student modules including patches and fixes. Ensure that software that integrates with Banner is maintained, tested and updated on a regular calendar. Articulate technical issues to UNIT for speedy resolution of problems. Act as Enrollment Management point person for managing third party software issues with vendors.
  • Collaborate with UNIT and EM leadership to manage and select third party strategic partners in support of enrollment programs and initiatives. Develop strategies to evaluate and test new software and implement new software that works in conjunction with Banner to increase end user functionality and supports the strategic enrollment plan.
  • Manage Banner and myNOVA software and functions that are used by the academic colleges (primarily CAPP) and related academic and curricula reporting and analytics. Serve as focal point for set up and solving ongoing problems as well as training for the managers of CAPP in the colleges.
  • Perform other duties and assist with projects as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Baccalaureate degree required.
  • Knowledge of Banner product from programming and functional perspectives including population selection
    In depth knowledge of how admissions and Enrollment Management work and ability to use technology and data analytics in support of the Enrollment Management division
    Knowledge of Excel, Access, Cognos and/or other reporting tools.
  • Ability to extract appropriate data for analysis and understand data relationships four areas of Enrollment Management as well as across the modules of an ERP or between ERP and related integrated systems.
  • 5 years of experience in information technology and systems. 5 -10 years of experience in higher education environment required.
  • Ability to independently learn and apply new technologies to current processed.
  • Ability to investigate and interpret problems with software as described above
    Ability to act as a team leader and partner with variety of constituents to help roll out new or enhanced software.
  • Ability to provide solutions for student systems problems and bring consensus to student data base issues.
  • Ability to problem solve and research solutions.
  • Ability to professionally present analytics findings to EM leadership.
  • Previous project planning experience.
  • Excellent written and communication skills.
  • Ability to successfully handle multiple tasks with competing deadlines.
  • Excellent analytical skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Masters degree preferred.
