Tutoring will take place in the Office of Academic Support from 9 AM to 4 PM Monday-Thursday and 4 PM to 10 PM Sunday-Thursday. Tutors can set their own hours.

Position Summary Information

Job Description Summary:
  • Provide individual or small group tutoring to assigned student-athletes through the Office of Academic Support for Athletics.
  • Meet with student-athletes on a regular basis to assist them in achieving a better understanding of specific subject material and in improving academic capabilities in designated areas.
  • Help students develop the study skills necessary for academic success.
  • Establish and maintain rapport with the assigned student-athlete(s).
  • Attend periodic training sessions given by the Office of Academic Support for Athletics to increase competency in tutoring student-athletes.
  • Flexible hours, with most sessions occurring during the evening hours of 4:00-10:00pm. Tutors usually work 2-10 hours per week.
  • Pay rate varies.
Requirements:
  • Tutors must have at least a 3.00 cumulative GPA, with Sophomore, Junior, Senior or Graduate student standing.
  • All tutors must have received an A or B in the course for which they would like to tutor.
  • Applicants must include a transcript with application to be considered. A letter of recommendation from a faculty member is preferred.

  • Tutors should be dedicated and willing to make the semester long commitment to tutor with the Office of Academic Support for Athletics.
  • Tutors should firmly believe in the importance of academic integrity and be willing to follow NCAA rules and regulations.
  • Tutors must uphold the privacy of the student-athletes and maintain confidentiality at all times.
Physical Demands Summary:
Wage Rate: Tutor I: $8.15, Tutor II $9.60, Grad Tutor: $11.40
